Skills Shortage


There seems to be a steady flow of reports regarding the lack of technical skills, or “skills shortage”, in the Australian market.
Why?
Are we trying to find people who have already done exactly what we want to do (to obviously reduce our risk), but at the same time stressing we have a new and unique business opportunity or project? In other words, trying to do the impossible!
Key to filling the “skills shortage” is getting the right people. Now that’s people, not skills. Skills can be learnt, improved, honed; people are a little trickier.
Find people with the right attitude, people who are smart, people who are interested in the challenge, not just the money – hire for potential.
